Park(ing) Day Dublin. Park(ing) Day is an annual, worldwide event that invites citizens everywhere to transform metered parking spots into temporary parks for the public good. It took place on the 16th of September and here are some of the participants in Dublin. The guy at the start with the glasses is Dave, one of my lecturers.
Definitely doing this next year
Dublin, Ire: When Anne Summers “sex shop” announced it was moving to O’Connell Street, there was a lot of public anger. Old people flocked to O’Connell street in protest stating that this shop was demeaning O’Connell Street, a very historical street in Dublin (GPO, Easter rising ect). Appeals were made to Dublin city council. The appeals were in the view that Anne Summers could not be located on this street as it is not compliant with the development zoning. Dublin City Council overlooked the appeals stating that Anne Summers, even though a “sex shop”, is still a “shop” or retail outlet. But, due to protests and public anger, Dublin City Council planted a row of trees outside the shop to block the shopfront signage in order not to cause offence to the public.
